This artwork is my homage to one of my favorite cities in the world: Lisbon, Portugal! Lisbon is a place where I feel at home and at ease. To express my love for this beautiful old city, I created an aerial perspective, mimicking an imaginary bird flying over Lisbon. I tried to convey the sense of freedom I feel in this city and how the combination of the river, the hills and the sky inspire me to recreate this atmosphere in my paintings. In my paintings I usually play with two different types of perspectives: an aerial perspective, in which the focal point is no longer visible and the standing one, in which there is a clear reference to our eyes regarding to where to look at first. This procedure implies that, once looking at my pieces, it will take longer for the viewer to form a coherent image charged with meaning in their minds. By doing this, I invite the viewer to feel compelled to dive into my images, experiencing more intensely the qualities of matter, like color and form.
