InSite Series: New York City Seen from Above

"InSite" is a series in which I play with the words "insight" (the capacity to gain an accurate and deep intuitive understanding of a person or thing) and the term "on site", as a way to reflect on culturally opposed ideas of space within and without us. Here I gave means of embodiment to events I experienced while visiting certain places. For different reasons, they inspired me to think about a broad dictionary definition for the word "site"( the place where something (such as a building) is/was, or will be located;a place where something important has happened;a place that is used for a particular activity) as "spacetime" - a model in which space and time are interwoven as a continuum. “NYC Seen From Above” is part of a group of abstract landscapes in which I give body to the psychological effects of my global explorations. Every landscape I create is a way to pay homage to special places I have been to, transforming them into a journey of storytelling and memoir. Here my homage goes to the stunning New York City! I worked with both aerial and frontal perspectives to convey the sense of diversity this city exudes, orchestrating a vibrant palette of colors that convey how I was emotionally captured by the collection of visual and textural curiosities gathered during my travels to NYC. Every trip to the Big Apple is full of cultural novelty, innovative art experiences and delightful surprises! NYC is an endless source of inspiration!
