Travel Embodiments” is a series of abstract landscapes in which I pay homage to my favorite places in the world. In “TE 1: Amsterdam” I worked with a vibrant palette inspired by Van Gogh style. The kaleidoscopic orchestrations of colors mimic the effects of light flickering on the water of Amsterdam canals in the evening. When navigating through those canals for the first time, I realized that these lights would mostly come from the opening windows of the tall house apartments. This image got imprinted on my memory as a metaphor for a social balance that respects diversity and leads to the contemporary type of successful cooperation Amsterdam embodies as a city. Not perfect, but special and unique. This city evokes in me an array of beautiful recollections!
